They are in an unexpected slide and would be tough to be back on the winning run. With lots of criticism done on the captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his tactics, it would be he who would be thinking most on the team combination and tactics. Every match is important for him and he doesn’t afford to lose another series.
With not many notable performances after the world cup win two years ago, he needs to re-discover the winning ways. He would have felt much bad after losing the first ODI with all the players getting a start and none of them making a bigger one.
Much bigger question that would be doing rounds in Dhoni’s mind would be the team combination on tomorrows match. He has enough of criticism after leaving out Shami Ahmed who performed exceptionally well in his debut match against Pakistan.
Loads of criticism again for not giving ball to Dinda who bowled well in 43rd and 45th overs of innings by giving away just 9 runs. After a very good spell, Dhoni didn’t give ball to Dinda in the last 3 overs and instead gave ball to Bhuvaneswar Kumar who went for 26 runs in his last 2 overs.
This makes no sense as Dinda didn’t finish his quota of 10 overs and he still has 2 more overs to bowl. Should see if Dhoni’s gives chance to Shami Ahmed, and I think he will replace Bhuvaneshwar Kumar in the lineup.
With almost all the batsmen getting a start and looking good in the middle, there shouldn’t be many changes in the lineup. If this is the case, Pujara might be warming the bench again. Even with Virat Kohli going through a rare patch for the last 4 ODI matches, Dhoni will not waste his time and brain thinking of it because its just a matter of one single innings to get back the touch.
